The A Perspective Podcast: Andrew Skipper talks to Nick O’Donohoe
Tuesday Nov 23, 2021
Tuesday Nov 23, 2021
In this Series 5 finale, Andrew speaks to CDC Group’s Chief Executive Officer, Nick O’Donohoe. Previously a Senior Adviser to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Nick co-founded and served as CEO of Big Society Capital. Established in 1948, CDC Group is the UK’s development finance institution with a portfolio of around £5 billion, making it the world’s first impact investor supporting businesses in Africa and South Asia.
Listen as they discuss who CDC are, what they do, and what role they can play in delivering results from an impact point of view. They explore what aspects of COVID-19 have been the most challenging in the DFI/Multilateral space; and what organisations like CDC can do to promote AfCFTA and the African Union’s call for a new paradigm. Nick talks about his views on what a ‘Just Transition’ means within an African context, and how he thinks CDC can support this. He also shares more about the group's green agenda in light of COP26 and the upcoming COP27, which is set to be held on the continent.
Join these two industry stalwarts for a candid and insightful conversation; our last A Perspective Podcast for 2021.
